New Arrivals - We are still unpacking!

We just received a new container of the most beautifull ceramic arts from South Africa and are unpacking them and posting them on this site as fast as we can.

Please look back daily, as there will be new items posted each day.

We hope you find them as exciting as we do!

WELCOME TO ARTISTS OF AFRICA

Welcome to Artists of Africa, a site where you will see works of african artists never seen before outside of South Africa. Our names are Stephen and Diana Goetz, and we have been traveling between California and South Africa for more than three decades, collecting memorable pieces of original african art that captures the spirit of the indigenous african people mixed in with the influences of the wild life of the African plains.

Our collection has some wonderful highlights!

The  Guinea Fowl collection by Dragana celebrates one of our most beloved memories of growing up in South Africa - the morning song of the guinea fowl running across our yard.  Each piece is hand made and painted in the small workshop in the Durbanville Hills meticulously by local artists. What a place setting these pieces will make in your home!

The Artists of Africa collection of vases and tableware with three dimensional wild animals running amock all over them has to be seen to be believed. Some of these beauties are over 30 inches tall.
These are all created from scratch by self-trained naturally artistic african potters from Zimbabwe.

We hope you enjoy all our new finds and we look forward to hearing from you.

JULY 2007 - THE LA MART GIFT SHOW

Toplamart_5 It's time once again for the LA Mart Gift Show, we're looking forward to seeing
some old friends and making some new ones!

This will be our first year representing the Avoova line of ostrich eggshell pieces.
The best part of this collection is our inability to decide which of the pieces is our
favorite!  Some days it is the stunning round wall mirror with the magnificent blue
eggshell accents.   Other days, the picture frames that line our mantle remind us of this past
Christmas in South Africa.

Stop by our booth for our show-only display of a ostrich shell wrist bangles.  Every night on the town
with these collectors items  is a special event.  See you in L.A.!

WE'RE BACK - AND WE'VE BROUGHT GIFTS!

Wow!  We can hardly believe how quickly the past six months have flown by. We have just
returned from a wonderful Summer and Spring in Cape Town and our goodie bags are FULL
of some exciting new pieces.

We were traveling just outside of Johannesburg when we came across an artists' community
creating unbelievable pieces of museum quality, hand painted works.  Created in three
dimensions, the images and colors leap from the ceramic and have transported the vibrant
feelings of Africa back to our home in California. The Intu-Art collection of Tableware and
Gallery Pieces are now one of the most spectacular parts of our collection.  We don't know
whether to display them in a case or serve up some slow-cooked potjiekos.

Check out the two Intu-Art galleries to the left and begin to get a flavor of these unique and
authentic collections.
